Sometimes, life is too hard.

It’s my goal to provide a therapeutic space where you can feel understood as your authentic self.

I am Lily Hemler, MSW, LSWAIC, and I am a licensed therapist in Washington. I understand how vulnerable and intimidating it can be to start therapy with someone new- I’ve gone through that transition a few times myself. I hope to create an environment where you feel comfortable exploring your needs and challenges, regardless of how big or small. I aim to honor you and your story, and help sit with you through the discomfort of existing.

“You do not have to be good.

You do not have to walk on your knees

for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body

love what it loves.”

-Mary Oliver

My approach:

I utilize an evidence-based, integrative approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, play therapy, art therapy, somatic techniques, and other therapeutic frameworks to support you in meeting your unique goals. I’m committed to collaboratively finding a therapeutic approach that feels supportive, effective, and aligned with your needs. I hope to help you better understand yourself, and provide support to help you live a life more in alignment with your values. I often work with individuals who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, and want to work on honoring their feelings while developing helpful coping strategies.  If you struggle with feeling stuck, misunderstood, or uniquely sensitive, you are not alone!

My lens:

I have experience supporting individuals of all ages and genders, who may be experiencing challenges with coping and surviving in a world that wasn’t built for them. As a social worker, I find it important to acknowledge how systemic injustices influence our mental health, and I operate from a Health at Every Size (HAES), anti-racist, neuro-affirming perspective. As a queer, neurodivergent therapist, I believe in the importance of bringing your authentic self to a therapeutic space, and I enjoy incorporating your interests into our sessions, whether that’s art, nature, music, cooking, D&D, tarot, or anything else special to you. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults, especially members of the LGBTQ+ community, who want support in raising their self-esteem, working through their emotions, and making space for their grief.
